    1) First, I don't have a text plan. I can't afford a text plan because Sprint sucks and as soon as my contract is up, I will be leaving them after a customer of 15 years. But, I see my Sprint (and the public pointed their error and greediness) finally followed the lead of other carriers and got rid of the text charges for donation texts for Haiti. (Now, if Sprint takes the lead of other carriers and cuts the rates or allows free calls to Haiti.)

    2) While, texting to donate is convenient; it will be added to my phone bill, I want to know if I am going to get a tax receipt for my donation. Not that I make enough to claim deductions like that, but there are people who do. My guess is probably not.

    3) Then there is the question of extra taxes on my cellphone bill for the $10+ (or multiple donations). Is the government going to wave the tax charges on these extra charge(s) on your cell bill? My guess is probably not. The government needs their share of the cut.

    4) I also have the question on how long this money will take to get to Haiti. My guess 60 to 90 days. One your statement has to be sent to you, you need to pay it, then your carrier needs to cut the checks. (And, really when you think about it, look how fast it takes for them to credit your account for their errors.) Haiti needs your money NOW, not 60-90 days from now. Unless, these carriers plan on fronting the money, of which I can't see happening. That would be too much “risk” for them.

    5) And this is just a general statement. Know who you are donating to and make sure it is a legitimate organization. Also, find out what percentage of the donation actually makes it to the cause.

Please go directly the websites and make your donation. You will get an eReceipt for tax purposes and these organizations will have their money right away.

I am happy to report, finally, that MasterCard, Visa & Discover Card are not charging the 2-3% swipe fee on credit card charges for donations made to the Haiti Earthquake. So, if you donate $10 through their website, the organization will get the full $10.

If you are sending checks or money orders to these organizations, please make sure you ear mark it by putting in the memo Haiti Earthquake Relief. Without an earmark, the organization legally can put it in their general fund and not end up going to people you want it to go to. DO NOT DONATE CASH!

Personally, I have donated to Doctors without Borders, UNICEF and Mercy Corps. I have received prompt tax receipts for all three organizations.

New Orleans makes a pitch to get the high school soccer championships at Tad Gormley

    By Ted Lewis, The Times-Picayune

    June 02, 2010, 6:30AM

Baton Rouge – A decade ago, Richard Smith became so involved in the Sugar Bowl's sponsorship of the state soccer championships that he considered it “my baby.”

The Division I and III state soccer championships were held in Tad Gormley Stadium from 2000 to 2005, but were moved to Lafayette after Hurricane Katrina. And now, Smith is doing what he can to bring his baby back to New Orleans.

The LHSAA's executive committee will be awarding future championship sites in soccer, basketball, wrestling and softball at its annual summer meeting today, and Smith's offer to be a private title sponsor is part of the local bid that would bring the 2011 Division I (Class 5A) and Division III (3A-C) title matches to Tad Gormley Stadium.

The event would be called the Old Metairie Apartments State Soccer Championships after one of the properties Smith owns.

“We really had something going there, ” Smith said of the Sugar Bowl's time as the title sponsor for soccer plus other state championship events. “We had incredible crowds and an incredible atmosphere. Hopefully, we can do it again, and we feel like we've put together a very attractive bid package.”

The Division I and III soccer championships were played at Tad Gormley Stadium from 2000 to 2005 but moved to Lafayette in 2006 because of damage to the stadium from Hurricane Katrina.

Then because of a conflict between the Sugar Bowl's title sponsor, Allstate, and State Farm, the primary sponsor for LHSAA events, the Sugar Bowl could no longer be involved.

Subsequently, Shreveport put in the winning bid for the event for the past four years.

However, this year largely because all eight of the finalists were located along the I-10, I-12 corridor — and five of the eight from the metro area — attendance at 49,000-seat Independence Stadium was no more than 100 for the Division III matches and 500 for the Division I matches the next day.

“I know there was a lot of dissatisfaction about playing in Shreveport this year, ” Smith said. “Some of it, like the weather, couldn't be helped. But the fact is that teams from the New Orleans area dominate soccer in the state, and having to travel so far for the championship puts a real hardship on their fans. So since most of them can't go to the event, we want to bring it to them.”

Shreveport, Lake Charles and Pineville also are bidding for the soccer championships.

The bid is for 2011 only, instead of the normal two years. That's because LHSAA principals area expected to vote in January whether to add the Division II (Class 4A) title matches to the other four starting in 2012, or to play all six at home sites.

Division II soccer is the only state championship event not played at a predesignated site.

City Park athletic services director Tony Biagas said Tad Gormley Stadium was being proposed as the site instead of Pan-American Stadium, which is considered more soccer-friendly, because of better broadcast facilities and a dressing room for officials, which Pan-Am Stadium does not have.

Sacred Heart Coach Tooraj Badie, whose team won the Division III girls title this season and had played in the title match in the previous four, said he would prefer to play at Pan-Am Stadium chiefly because the track at the stadium makes the field there significantly smaller.

But wherever the site, he felt staging the championships in New Orleans, at least on a rotating basis, would be a good move.

“We liked going to Shreveport, and the folks up there do a great job, ” he said. “But most of our students couldn't make it. You want them to be able to enjoy the experience, too.”

The basketball bids are for the first two years, under the new format adapted in January and starting in 2012, which will have the semifinals for boys and girls played together at three regional sites on one weekend, and the finals played at one site the next weekend.

A contingent from Baton Rouge is bidding to have the title games played at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on LSU's campus. The boys Top 28 was last played there in 1996 and has been held at Lafayette since.

Lafayette is bidding for the championship games, as is Bossier City.

The New Orleans Arena was invited to bid, but because of the inability to commit to dates because of Mardi Gras — plus the 2012 Final Four and the 2013 Women's Final Four — along with Hornets games, none was made.

Hammond and Southeastern Louisiana are the lone bidders for the southeastern regional site, and Lake Charles has the only bid for the southwestern regional. Bossier City and Monroe are bidding for the northern regional, but if Bossier gets the finals, the semifinals will go to Monroe.

The Pontchartrain Center in Kenner is seeking to retain the state wrestling championships, although there also is a bid from Bossier City.

Sulphur is the lone bidder to retain the softball championships.

CHICAGO, IL – U.S. Soccer has announced the groupings for the first two rounds of the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which kicks off with first-round matches on Tuesday, June 15, around the country.

All 32 lower division teams will enter the tournament in the first round. First-round pairings were determined by dividing the clubs geographically into eight groups of four, with match-ups within each group determined by random draw. In the second round on June 22, the 16 first-round winners will face off, with eight victors moving into the third round to square off against eight Major League Soccer teams.

The third round will take place June 29, with the quarterfinals set for July 6-7, the semifinals on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 and the final slated for Oct. 5.

Of the 17 amateur division teams representing the U.S. Adult Soccer Association regional qualifiers and the Premier Development League, only the Arizona Sahuaros (USASA) are returning for their second consecutive U.S. Open Cup. The Sahuaros have qualified for four of the last five U.S. Open Cups, the best record of any amateur team during that span. This year’s participants also include the Sonoma County Sol of the National Premier Soccer League (an affiliate of the USASA), who qualified for the first round by virtue of winning a play-in match against PSA Los Gatos Storm, a club affiliated with U.S. Club Soccer (a member organization of U.S. Soccer).

Within the U.S. Open Cup framework, teams compete in one of the following four categories: professional outdoor Division I (Major League Soccer), Division II (USSF D-2 Pro League) or Division III (USL Second Division), or Amateur Division. In recent years, the Amateur Division has been comprised of the USL Premier Development League and regional qualifiers from the U.S. Adult Soccer Association.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which is recognized as U.S. Soccer’s National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 95 consecutive years dating back to 1914.

The U.S. Open Cup is a single-elimination tournament, with games tied after regulation being decided in two 15-minute overtime halves. If the score is still tied after overtime, the winner is decided in a penalty kick shootout. The team that advances the furthest from each level except Division I will earn a $10,000 cash prize. The runner-up will take home $50,000, while the champion will collect $100,000. In addition, the winner will have its name engraved on the historic Dewar Challenge Trophy, the oldest trophy competed for nationally in American team sports.

Fussball WM 2010: Ballack, Vuvuzela und Flachbildschirm

    Sport

  • Tibetan child monks enjoy soccer in sunlight by Samer M

    Italien Fussball Trikot kaufen

After nearly a year of FIFA 09, I'm about ready for a new FIFA game to play. The past two or so months have been filled with anticipation for FIFA 10. EA Games provided us with video trailers, and pictures, just basic introductions to the game to get us excited. More recently, EA released the FIFA 10 demo, available in Europe before us North Americans could get our hands on it. Just like the demo, the game was to be released in Europe beforehand, and it's actually been out there for awhile. We've heard good things about it from Europeans and game reviewers, but North Americans really only have the demo to experience it for ourselves, for now. The demo has been great, it seems like everything that was wrong with FIFA 09 has been fixed, but we wont really know until the game is released on October 20, 2009. For now, we can only speculate as to what the game will be like, and thats what I aim to do in this preview.

The first thing I'm going to focus on- Where can you buy your copy of FIFA 10? Let's be honest here, a soccer game is going to have quite a hard time selling out in North American stores. I know that GameStop is offering a FIFA 10 preorder deal where you receive a year-long subscription to The Soccer Magazine when you preorder the game. But in all fairness, you're not going to really need to preorder the game in North America. Europe saw the game sell out quickly because of its higher popularity there, but it's different here. In terms of what stores will cary the game, GameStop, Best Buy, Wall-Mart, and others, are all likely to have it. Most stores that usually carry video games will probably have it on the release date, but I'd recommend you call in just to make sure.

EA Games, the makers of FIFA 10, have told us that FIFA 10 is jam-packed with loads of new features that will make FIFA 10 “the greatest soccer game ever made”. The first new feature that really got me interested was the Virtual Pro Mode. FIFA 09 featured the “Be a Pro” mode where you create a character and play games with him. The more games you play, the better your pro will get. FIFA 10 builds on this by allowing you to play with your created player in numerous new game modes, including online with other online gamers, and build a team filled with created players.

Another feature of FIFA 10 is GameFace. GameFace is a program that you can install on your computer. You upload a picture of your face and it makes a virtual player that looks just like you! From there, you can download the face on to your game system, where you can play Virtual Pro with your created face on your player! Virtual Pro and GameFace are the two features that make me most excited for the FIFA 10 release.

FIFA 09 had a lot of problems with dribbling. Many gamers felt that they did not have enough control over the player when dribbling. The new 360 degree dribbling feature allows for precise control over players when dribbling and lets you dribble around defenders in ways not before possible with FIFA 09. Overall, 360 dribbling allows for a more authentic dribbling experience and makes it less of a passing game all the time.

Like any other game series, the graphics are always supposed to improve with every new game. One thing that I believe EA Games has been great about is substantially improving the graphics with every new release of a FIFA game. I recommend that you go take a look at some of the screenshots that EA Games have provided us with so far on the FIFA 10 website. FIFA 09 had some problems with graphics on the faces of players, but that doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. With FIFA 10, everything just looks very real.

That's my preview of FIFA 10, for all of you North Americans out there like myself. I'm sure that Fifa 10 will be a big improvement from Fifa 09, which was already an excellent game. Until October 20, we're just going to have to make do with the demo which has already set high expectations for the full game.

There is a reason why soccer is not called ‘football’ in America…soccer sucks. American football is far better and far superior than the world’s so-called most popular sport, which for some reason is also called ‘football.’ If this is confusing don’t worry about, Americans already have it figured out.

American sports fans decided to call this ridiculous sport ‘soccer’ a long time ago, and gave the term 'football' to a far better, more appealing sport.

I am not writing this to offend anyone, or to attract more readers. The fact is that soccer is boring and it simply makes no sense. The goal is bigger than a two-car garage, but yet nothing happens for 86 minutes! Guys are running (and walking) all over this massive field, yet nothing ever happens.

Most Americans view soccer as just a big game of keep away. Why the rest of the world continues to play this sport is beyond comprehension. I will always fail to understand what makes soccer so great and so fun to watch. Soccer fans shout at me ‘you just don’t understand.’ I agree.

    • I don’t understand how a sport can have an ‘offsides’ penalty when that is the only way a teams can have an offensive advantage.
    • I don’t understand why professional athletes can’t put a round ball in a goal the size of Rhode Island.

    • I don’t understand how anyone can get excited about one goal being scored during 86 minutes of play.
I don’t understand why soccer players are so fragile. One minute they are being hauled off on a stretcher and ten minutes later the same guy is scoring a break-away goal!

    • I don’t understand how 100,000 fans can start a fire and riot after a 1-0 contest. Maybe they looked elsewhere to cure their boredom.

    • I don’t understand why David Beckham has to look like a girl.

    • I don’t understand how European soccer fans in the year 2006 can yell racial slurs to black athletes. It is also horrible to see FIFA not do a damn thing about it.

Ask me why I love American football, baseball, basketball or even hockey and I could go on and on about how each position in each sport requires a combination of athleticism, violence, speed and skill and each has the ability change the momentum of the contest or determine the outcome of the game.

Also, professional sports in America are paced well and have a nice flow with breaks in the action that allow the game to be analyzed by fans and broadcasters.

    Soccer has none of this.

Die-hard soccer fans argue that soccer is the ‘world’s greatest game’ or that in every other country but America it is the most popular sport. Just because everyone else is doing something, don’t make it right. Heck, the Chinese are still using chop-sticks!

Other countries don’t have any other choice. Other than rugby and cricket, what else is there for professional sports outside the United States?

    Badminton? Handball? Curling?

America pretty much leads the world in entertainment and when America says something is boring then we are probably on to something. Baywatch reruns can be found in almost every household around the world. We know how to entertain and we know sports.

If you’re into soccer, kick yourself silly. Just don’t expect us to join you kicking and screaming with joy.

Sorry soccer fans, your ‘football’ sucks.

Flamengo has won its sixth Brazilian Championship by beating Gremio 2 x 1, to tie Sao Paulo for the team with the most Brazilian national soccer tournaments in history.

Adriano, the former Inter Milan striker, who had a serious career low just a few months ago, has resurrected his career in grand style, not only winning the most coveted tournament in Brazil, but also concluding the competition as its top scorer with 19 goals.

While living in Brazil in the 80s, I was one of the few fortunate people who had the priviledge to see up close the Flamengo Golden generation of Zico, Junior and Leandro, and I was lucky enough to be there in Maracana when Flamengo won that 1982 Brazilian championship.

Last August, I visited Brazil and met with Adriano and several members of theFlamengo team at their training camp in Rio. At that point, Flamengo was in 17th place in the “Brasileirao”, and if I had told anyone at that time that I tought they would end up as champions just three months later, no one would have believed me.

Being a former striker myself, I clearly remember my chat with Adriano as we discussed ways to dodge markers and how to improve the team's midfield to forward connection and other aspects of the game.

As one of the most die-hard Flamengo fans you can ever find, I could not be any happier to see that not only did Adriano figure out how to dodge those markers, but I am also happy that the team has found its compass and has combined extremely well, and went on to do the impossible: to move from 17th to 1st place in the most important national-level soccer tournament in the whole of South America, in a time span of only three months.

That night in August, as I used to do so many times back in the 80s when I was living in Brazil, I had the pleasure of accompanying the team to Maracana Stadium, and watched as Flamengo beat Atletico Mineiro, which was at that time the team that was in first.

That day in August I had no idea, but that very same game I watched was to be the first of a series of a spectacular comeback performances, not only for Adriano but also for Flamengo.

Today after winning the championship match, Adriano stated that “this is a dream, to be a champion again and, above all, to be happy” . And, his feeling is shared by millions of Brazilians, who are fans of the largest Club in Brazil: CRF (Clube the Regatas do Flamengo).

Adriano, who has earned the nickname “The Emperor” while playing in Italy, was once, not very long ago, the most feared striker in the world.

After having a series of personal problems, the Emperor was released by Inter Milan and joined Flamengo, the team that had discovered him for soccer. There he regained his old form and even managed to reclaim a spot on the Brazilian National squad during the World Cup qualifiers.

It remains to be seen if this performance on the Brasileirao will be enough to earn Adriano a spot in the 2010 World Cup team. But regardless, Adriano has written a major page in his personal soccer story, and helped Flamengo regain its status as one of the greatest teams, if not the greatest, in the history of Brazilian soccer.

I am blogging at you from Southern California.  My wife and I just arrived today after an early wake up call (4:45am) to catch a 7:30am flight out of New Orleans.  It’s been a long day of traveling but we are super excited for this year’s Beach Soccer Championships in Oceanside, California.  Last year’s tournament was great and this one I am sure will be even better.

The Beach Soccer tournament is May 15th and 16th and we are a sponsor/special guest of the tournament so will be marketing the Online Soccer Academy and College Recruiting Websites we build.  Check out BeachSoccerUSA.org for more information.  We came up early because we have a few other things going out in Cali this week.  I will be interviewing Edson Buddle and Sacha Kljestan at the Home Depot Center, filming an Online Soccer Academy “Beach Soccer” training video with one of the US Men’s National Team Beach Soccer players and we will also be hanging out with a lot of the Oceanside Breakers players and coaches, which is the local soccer club here in Oceanside we sponsor.

The video above is a goofy video of me introducing myself as a Cajun Beach soccer player to the Californians.  I made one last year too you can watch by clicking here.  What do you think my accent?  Think I have a shot at making the US Men’s National Team Beach Soccer team (LOL!)?

Great to be in Cali!  Al da Gator and I look forward to seeing everyone at the beach soon!

Real Madrid appears ready to finally forgive David Beckham. The team became outraged when they found out that their star player had decided to sign with a Major League Soccer team in the United States last month. Real Madrid's coach became so angry that he told Beckham that he would no longer be allowed to play with team. All Beckham wanted to do was play soccer. It appears that he will finally get that chance.

After being left off the team roster for a little more than a month, Real Madrid has decided to add Beckham back to the team. He is listed on the roster for their upcoming game on Saturday Real Sociedad. This is exciting news for a team that has struggled to get wins without their leader. Even though Beckham's skill level has greatly decreased over the past few years, his overall importance to the team is far greater. He is a soccer sports icon that is loved worldwide. His appearance Saturday will most likely give the team energy and fire that has been missing.

The decision to let Beckham return to the team is rather shocking. It appeared that his career was truly over with Real Madrid. The two parties were in deep negotiations on a two-year contract extension. While negotiating, the LA Galaxy decided to make a deal that Beckham simply could not refuse. He received a contract offer that is rumored to total $250 million. Beckham quickly signed the contract and outraged his coach and team. Real Madrid's head coach Fabio Capello stated that the former English captain would never again play for the team after his announcement to sign with the LA Galaxy.

It appears that the parties have been negotiating to allow Beckham to play out the rest of his contract. This turn of events benefits both parties. Beckham will be allowed to play the game he loves and remain in shape for the upcoming Major League Soccer season. Real Madrid will get back their emotional English leader. They are hoping that they can end the season on a high note. Both parties want to pay respect to one another. They understand that they are better together than without each other.

    Soccer
Do you like soccer? If you do keep on reading to learn more tips or if you don’t know how to play, then keep reading to learn the rules of soccer.

    How To Play And Rules
In soccer you only use your feet, head, and chest. You don’t use your hands because if you do the referee will let the other team kick a free kick. A free kick is a kick with the ball on the ground and nobody can take the ball away from you. If someone does take the ball away, the referee will give who ever took the ball away a yellow card. If you do a foul or do something bad, you will get a yellow card and the second time you do something bad you will get a red card. The red card means you get out the game and you cant play anymore. Another thing is if you kick the ball outside the field, the other team will take the ball inside the field with their both hands. The whole purpose of the game is to make more goals than the other team. There is a tip to make a goal easier. If you get farther than the half court and you get near the goalie, what you have to do is get close to him and kick the ball the other direction he is at. If the goalie is the one that throws him self on the ground to get the ball, then kick the ball up so it can go over him. If you are close to make a goal and then you kick it but the goalie blocks it and the ball goes out. The ball goes outside the field and it’s the side where the goalie is it’s a corner kick. A corner kick is a kick from the corner of the field and it always has to be in the other teams side. You can kick it to your teammate so they can try to make a goal, or you can kick it to your teammate in the air and that is when you use your head. If it is a corner kick and your teammate kicks it to you in the air, then look at the ball and when it comes down hit the ball with your forehead and twist your head aiming at the goalie box.
    5 vs. 5
Sometimes there are tournaments and when you play there are five people against other five people. Five vs. five is the same thing as the normal soccer but the five vs. five fields is small. When you start the ball says, “kick me”. Big people kick the ball like if they were a cannon shooting a ball. Five vs. five games the goalie always takes it out with his hands but they cant throw the ball and it lands on the other side of the half court. If the goalie throws the ball farther than the half court then the referee will make it a free kick. Those are all the rules and tips about soccer.

This is life in the new Greece: People are angry and break into riot and any provocation, and the state is poor and will take any excuse to cut costs.

Hooliganism has become such a problem at Greek soccer games that fans were banned from away games. But serious clashes occurred this weekend at three league matches.

The AP reports hundreds clashed on pitch and outside the stadium before a Greek cup game in the northern town of Kavala.

Sports secretary Panayiotis Bitsaxis announced a €40 million cut in state funding for soccer, suspended until the league can reign in its hooligans.

For the Papandreou regime, it's a clever grab of money needed to qualify for the EU bailout. But this is going to really piss off the already-angry Greeks.

The average fantasy map is typically scribbled down on a sheet of paper and labeled with a few cities and a few places of note. The places of note tend to have names like The Waste or The Sea of Tears. They also tend to be fairly rough. That's pretty much as it should be, you don't need to spend five or six hours making a map when only a few places will ever be traveled to.

However, many do like to make very complex and elaborate maps. There is even commercial software out there to do it, such as Campaign Cartographer or Dundjinni. That's all well and good, and they are good pieces of software, but it always overlooks the obvious simple solution. If you want a realistic and detailed map, use one from Earth. If you want to map a kingdom out, just pick some region and use it, no one will notice, most people wouldn't recognize a geographic map of their own county. These days with things like Google Earth you can just zoom in on some area of Idaho and you're golden.

You know the terrain fits and is realistic, because it is real. The rivers and lakes will be in the right spots, ditto the mountains. You'll have a pretty good idea where the population centers should be too, now you can just name them. Or not, if you want a real medieval feel you can simply keep the names of most towns and small cities, because a map of say, Bavaria, already is full of places named from then, You don't even need to remove Munich since a map of the region will not spell the city's name that way, but as München. For that matter, you won't see it named Bavaria but Bayern, and if some player catches those little details they can feel smug and you can reward them some experience points. Remember, anything that makes players (or readers, every DM is an aspiring author I suspect) visualize your world more is a good thing, and will payoff with greater interaction and enthusiasm. Don't worry about the fact that it's not original, think of all those settings where it turns out they were on Earth all along. Last I checked Planet of the Apes is a classic.

Don't bother with a map of the whole bloody planet. This shouldn't be necessary and makes people prone to generate those irritatingly over-simplified worlds we see so much of in Science Fiction. One big planet, basically just one small and homogeneous community on it. You don't need that much space, you could run a campaign for years and not exhaust the options of some relatively small place like England. If you decide you want the players to end up some place far away from where they started, just pick a new map and have a general idea how far and in what direction the old place was.

Reuse places. I can't emphasize that enough, players will enjoy returning to places they've already been and have some background with. Spread out your important places into your various towns and cities, don't cram them all in one massive city. Players want to buy a magic sword? Great, forgo the usual nauseous habit of having Ye Ole Magic Shop and have some wizard or serious collector who has a manor outside the small town of Nowheresville. Spread your experts out, you don't need to have a wizard's academy in the capital, incidentally you don't need to have the capital of some kingdom always be the biggest city. It doens't have to be in the center of the blasted country either. Remember, most kingdoms started off as some smaller realm that absorbed it's neighbors, they didn't usually do that in a smooth, even circle, and they probably didn't move the capital afterwards.

Name your places after the nobles, or vice-versa. This saves a lot of effort coming up with names and adds a deeper feeling of reality. You can rapidly generate your whole aristocracy off that map in about five minutes, just using a random name generator for their first names. Get your map, type out the names of the major towns and cities, use a d20 to find out how many thousand people live there, and pick some major export item. That export is handy, since you can put it in the nobleman's coat of arms. Paste the place names into another document, delete a couple, repeat one or two to indicate that maybe some noble is not the direct male descendant but rather the byproduct of a political marriage of an inheriting daughter and only child. Add in your random first names, you will probably already be coming up with potential conflicts in your head. You have a Erik Mendro, Count of Mendro, and Phillip Mendro, Baron of Ostvein, first cousin or nephew to the count. They may be strong allies from the blood ties, our harsh rivals. Repeat the process till you have a complete peerage. You should be able to do this in well under an hour, and now you have an excellent and realistic map with ready made economic and political background. Print the map, print the map key, print the aristocracy, staple them together and hand them to your players. Quick, easy, and usually very well-received by your group. You can start adding in various lesser relatives and political machinations as time and circumstance permit and require, ditto minor villages, ruined keeps, and haunted dungeons.

Jaipur: India vs South Africa 2010 live streaming, India South Africa live score: India score 298, SA, 49/0. Indian team have posted a rather respectable score in the first one day international match against South Africa. Despite the initial hiccup and the fact that the Indian team lost the first wicket of Sachin Tendulkar for just four runs the team was able to score a rather decent runs.
India’s batting powerhouse Virendra Sehwag despite the fact that the team had lost Sachin his opening partner in today’s match very early, went on to bat in his usual destructive style.

He was unstoppable and his stroke play always amaze both the bowlers and the spectators.
He scored 46 runs off only 37 balls and hit two massive sixes and six fours.

The campaign is specifically designed to encourage all South Africans to wear a Bafana Bafana T-shirt every Friday as global football spectacular draws near. Absa has purchased 39,532 Bafana Bafana jerseys to be distributed to the group’s staff members from 1 March, in a bid to rally support for the national team ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The primary aim of the launch is to encourage all Absa employees to rally behind Bafana Bafana and help them reach their best in the coming fiesta. The campaign is also a platform to inform the entire Bafana squad and the whole of South Africa that Absa is the bank behind the national team.

In a nutshell, Football Friday is an initiative driven to galvanise the entire nation to stand behind their national heroes. South Africans are encouraged to fly the national flag with pride, learn to sing the national anthem and for the brave-hearted, there’s also the now popular diski-dance.

Absa Executive Director, Happy Ntshingila, said in a statement, “It’s a tremendous honour for us to forge full steam ahead in support of our national team. We would like to reiterate that Bafana Bafana can be rest assured that together we will celebrate more historical moments with them, like this one today.

“On and off the pitch they should always remember that in us, as Absa, they have a committed team mate; we encourage the entire country to rally behind our heroes.”

Among the high-profile attendees at the launch were minister of Tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk, national coach Carlos Parreira and several Bafana Bafana players and some of the Sevens Rugby players.

Ladies and gentlemen it’s here! The countdown is on and we are about to cross the psychological number of 100 days left to go. FIFA Soccer World Cup has become the most awaited sports event in recent history not just because of its magnitude but because it comes to the world’s most colourful continent – Africa!

While the Western media still doubts South Africa’s capability to hold the tournament and always throwing jibes at the continent, the South African authorities are ready to make a buzz of this as 2nd March counts exactly 100 days to the start of this magnanimous event.

What should South Africa do to convince the world that it is ready?:

I have had to ask myself, what else will South Africa do to convince the world that it is not only ready, but capable of hosting and hosting well, the World Cup?

    He continues:

The countdown, therefore, has nothing to do with the readiness of the teams, rather it tends to sensitise us to the greatest single sport spectacle on earth. And in this wise, the South Africans can be assured of my vote. The South Africans have so woven life round the World Cup that long after the competition had gone, (just one month) the legacy that will be left behind will be awesome.

The BlaBla Blog puts it into perspective (albeit more practical) by focusing on the ‘fly the flag for 2010 in South Africa event which is a celebration of this important milestone,

2 March is therefore earmarked as a day on which South Africans, here and abroad, are called upon to demonstrate their excitement for the tournament and to display their passion for the country and the beautiful game

In an interesting survey from the South African Road Safety blog, the figures show that 85 % of the South Africans believe the country’s ready to host the tournament:

a record high (85%) of South Africans supporting the preparation ahead of the World Cup has surfaced in African Response’s latest 2010 Barometer – measuring perceptions of readiness ahead of the World Cup in around the major metropolitans in South Africa

However, South Africans are cognisant of the fact that there is still work to be done ahead of the World Cup and 61% agree that we need to focus on policing and security if our visitors are to leave our shores having had a good experience in our country

The SouthAfrica WorldCupBlog was more satirical in its post titled – Here come the fat cats of FIFA…:

FIFA President Sepp Blatter joined many other dignitaries for a 100-day countdown bash in Durban. Local Organizing Committee Chief Executive Danny Jordaan will be present along with Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe. Other participating celebrities include Jay Jay Okocha, Roger Milla, Mark Fish, and Hossam Hassan.

It also highlights the issues still grappling the organisers especially on the issue of the infrastructure in particular the stadium(s):

The latest concerns surround the quality of playing surfaces that are available at both the host stadiums and at some of the training bases chosen by the participating teams.”… The fields were boggy and saturated so the English FA contracted Richard Hayden, from the Sports Turf Research Institute to work on improving their condition. He did such a good job that FIFA signed him up to work on all the problematic pitches around the training camps.

According to Soccerway.com, South Africa is still wooing fans with 100 days remaining:

President Jacob Zuma in his state of the nation address urged locals to buy more tickets and to support the games to honour former president Nelson Mandela, who lobbied to bring the World Cup here. Mandela was central in assisting the country to win the rights to host this great event. We therefore have to make the World Cup a huge success in his honour,” said Zuma. “The infrastructure, security and logistics arrangements are in place to ensure a successful tournament.

“We will deliver a great World Cup,” declares The Times Online blog:

The rising excitement across the nation is palpable and South Africa is about to show the world what Africa is capable of doing. We are a nation with major social challenges, but we will deliver a great World Cup

Finally BushRadio’s blog discusses the events arranged to mark the occasion:

The deputy president will then join a major public celebration at the Durban city hall where a range of festivities will provide a foretaste of the colour and energy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament,”
    And also,
Marking the day also Bafana Bafana will play host to neighbours Namibia on Wednesday evening, kick-off at 20h30. The hosts go into the International Friendly in good form after 6-2 and 3-0 wins over Swaziland and Zimbabwe respectively.

adidas and the South African Football Association have launched the South Africa national football team jersey to be used by Bafana Bafana as their away or alternate  kit during FIFA World Cup 2010. South Africa’s adidas World Cup 2010 home kit was launched in November of 2009.
